Let There Be Bass

Whether you’re a budding musician or a seasoned player looking to expand your skills, our electric bass guitar lessons cater to all ages and experience levels. Dive into the world of bass:

The Bass player steers the ship in every band, are you going to be the captain?

The bass player provides the crucial link between the rhythm and the harmony of the music. Every band member relies on the bassist to supply the foundations that they work to. Our bass students learn in a one to one lesson and have the opportunity to perform with others at our ‘Student Gig’ events.

Bass Basics

Students start with being introduced to the parts of the bass guitar. The body, neck, frets, strings, pickups and tuning pegs. Bass students will develop holding positions for both sitting and standing and the importance of the angle of the neck. Students will learn how to tune their instrument and develop an understanding of pitch.

Right & Left Hand Techniques

Each hand has a different role to play in playing the bass. Students will be taught the right-hand techniques of plucking and the importance of alternating fingers, how to anchor their thumb on a pickup or the edge of the fretboard for stability and how to use a pick to strike the strings. The left-hand fret and finger position concept is important for producing clean notes and developing dexterity and reach across the four frets.

Scales, Rhythms, Songs

Lessons on bass guitar will involve students having technical exercises like scales and arpeggios. Developing a strong rhythmic sense is crucial to being a great bass player so lessons will have a variety of rhythm exercises. Learning basic box patterns and well known bass lines like, ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ is the start of building up a bass music repertoire.
