  • Do we offer group classes?

    Yes, we do specialise in group music education courses for you children. Our ‘Encore Music’ education courses are the best way to commence your child’s music education. Contact us for more details on thse coures.

  • Where are we located?

    Adelaide Music World is located on Grange Road in Allenby Gardens. We are Unit 5 in the Allenby Gardens Complex and street number 119. Our front door is in the corner of the building. Our post code is 5009, South Australia.

  • How long is a private lesson?

    Private lessons across all instruments start at a minimum of 30 minutes. Lesson duration can increase to 45 or 60 minutes as students advance and develop. Increase in lesson duration will come at the recommendation of the teacher.

  • How long is a group lesson?

    Our group lessons are 45 minutes long. When students progress through their education, lesson duration will increase to 1 hour. Developing concentration span is part of the education process.

  • Can I have a Free Trial Lesson?

    A Free Trial Lesson is a great way to find out more about our group lessons and courses. We offer dates for new students and parents to attend a no-obligation trial group class. Contact us to find out when we are having our next Free Trial Lesson classes. Bookings essential.

  • How do I enrol?

    You can complete the ‘Enquiry Form’ on our website and/or call us directly on (08) 8346 5462. To personalise your enquiry and place you in the correct learning arrangement, it is important we speak with you in person too.

  • Do I need an instrument?

    Yes. All students need to have their own instrument. Piano lessons are taught on the instruments at the school. Drum lessons also on the school’s drum kit. We can help with recommending the right instrument for your needs. Speak to your teacher or our administrator for advice.

  • What is the benefit of group lessons?

    The ideal learning environment for young students is in a group lesson. Our ‘Encore Music’ courses develop students into young musicians through a comprehensive approach to learning music. Students learning by-ear and using the solfege note system. Ensemble playing is also a valuable subject included in group lessons.

  • How much practise is required?

    Daily practice will generate the best results. Learning how to practice is part of your music education. Ideally thirty minutes a day is what is recommended. For young students, shorter practice sessions are effective. For students embarking on a music exam for example, 1 hour minimum a day maybe necessary.

  • Do parents stay for group lessons?

    Yes. We recommend parents stay with their young child for our group lesson classes. Helping your child in class and learning with them is vital to their progress. Knowing how to help your child at home will benefit their music education enormously.

  • How are lessons paid for?

    All students enrolled into Adelaide Music World will be issued an invoice for lessons. Fees are payable directly to the business, not to the teacher. Invoices are paid via Credit or Debit Card, Bank Transfer, cash on via our online payment system.

  • What are the teaching dates?

    We follow the South Australian education department’s teaching calendar. We have 4 terms per year. School holidays are also in line with the South Australian public school calendar. On occasion, we do arrange lessons in the holidays.

  • What materials do I need group lessons?

    Students enrolled into one of our ‘Encore Music’ courses will be required to purchase the appropriate course books and materials from Adelaide Music World directly. One set of materials will last approximately 2 to 3 terms.

  • Can I buy instruments with you?

    No. We are not a music instrument retailer. We can recommend a local music instrument business for you to purchase your instrument from.

  • What happens if a class group lesson is missed?

    Class group lessons missed are not refundable. With advanced notice, a student may attend another group class providing they are at the same stage of the music course. Contact our administrator for more information on lessons missed.

  • What happens if I miss a private lesson?

    If you fail to attend a lesson, the lesson is not refunded. If a weeks notice is given, it may be possible for a 1 to 1 lesson to be organised for that week at another time or on a future date. Speak to our administrator for more details.

  • Can I park my car?

    The Allenby Gardens Complex has a 50 + space public car park. There is no time limit for parking, however, we do ask visitors to our business to use the parking spaces for booked lesson time periods only.

  • Do you have disabled access?

    Yes we do. Wheelchair access from the carpark into our music school is easy. There are no stairs in our business and all of our teaching studios are all on the ground level. Our toilet is also wheelchair friendly.

  • Can I have on-line lessons?

    No. All of our music lessons take place, teacher to student, in our music school. We don’t offer permanent weekly on-line lessons. For special circumstances, a teacher may provide an approved video lesson to a student.

  • Can I have music lessons at my home?

    No. All Adelaide Music World lessons are given at our Grange Rd, Allenby Gardens location. Our teachers do not provide home visit lessons.

  • What materials will I need for 1 to 1 lessons?

    This will depend on the instrument yo are learning and the level you are at with your music education. Some materials needed maybe able to be purchased directly from Adelaide Music World. Other materials might need to be purchased from a music book store or on-line site. Your teacher will advise.

  • What is the best age to start learning music?

    The best age for a children to start learning music is 4 or 5 years. This is the age range that a young child’s ear develops the most. Our comprehensive Encore Music education courses are ideally structured and designed for this optimum age.

  • Do students perform in concerts?

    We believe performing is a celebration of learning music. We have several concert dates on our annual calendar for our students to develop their performance skills. Talk to our administrator for concert dates a.d details
